The Bathroom

Well finally some pictures are taken - its not quite finished yet but its certainly taking shape! The Thetford cassette toilet is fitted and functional so no more long walks to the loo which is really good.

The Hip bath is in place with shower over. As this is below the level of the water we use a Whale gulper pump (aptly named!) to empty it.

Tiling is by Beverley - her first attempt and an absolutely splendid job she made of it.

Above the sink is a large mirror which creates a feeling that the bathroom is twice its real size - handy when you're trying to take pictures too!

Initially the basin is installed with nothing beneath so that we could have somewhere to wash. Beneath the basin there will be a cupboard for all the usual bathroom bits and pieces plus a spare cassette for the Thetford.

The basin is a plastic type vanity basin with a single mixer tap hole. This was difficult to find and we eventually ordered one through Carvers of Wolverhampton, a local builders merchant. Taps and shower fittings were from Screwfix - again!

With the basin cupboard now finished we now have plenty of storage in the bathroom. The cupboard was made from ash-faced MDF, as was the door. The door was finished with the router to match all the other doors on the boat. The switch you can see on the side of the cupboard operates the shower/bath emptying pump.

The bath side panel was also made from MDF and a double pattern to follow the theme of the doors, routed into it:

The bathroom door is perhaps the only door in the boat that does not have this pattern - this is because Bev fancied an arched top to the door and I couldn't see how the pattern would look right! The picture shows me edging the door with ash trimming
